After a fateful visit to Kettles Yards, the home of famed art collection John Ede, Max Wildman aka āOld Jackā developed an enduring fascination for the life and artwork of Alfred Wallis. After a period of keen study was made of the Wallisā methods, techniques and materials, Wildman started experimenting and painting out of curiosity using the same materials and techniques that Wallis used.It was not long before commissions were being taken from a growing clientele to produce works that were quite intentionally in the style of Alfred Wallis.
An art gallery in the UK started started selling Wildman's work under the pseudonym āOld Jackā.Ā As interest in Wildman's work aka Old Jack has continued to grow, this Chichester-based artistās has been in featured in galleries throughout the UK and popular with private collectors around the world. Wildmanās work is exclusively sold in the US at Nickey Kehoe.
